While he practices in the areas of administrative, utility regulation, commercial, and commercial litigation, Peter is well recognized for his skills as an arbitrator and as an advocate in employment and business matters.
Professional Experience
Born in Saint John, Peter received his B.Sc, M.B.A. and his LL.B from Dalhousie University. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in 1981 and the New Brunswick bar in 1982. His contributions to the profession were recognized when he was awarded the Q.C. designation in 1997. Other affiliations include the Canadian Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the CLE Foundation, and the Saint John Law Society.
Always active in his profession, Peter has represented the NB CBA Branch on national committees and currently represents the Law Society of NB on the Federation of Law Society Task Force on Multi-Disciplinary Practice. Within New Brunswick he has served as a Member and Chair of CLE. As well, he has served as a Council Member and on the Executive of the Law Society as Treasurer, Vice-President and President in addition to extensive involvement with various committees.
Outside the Office
In addition to his professional activities, Peter has long been active in the community serving at local, provincial and national levels with a number of organizations as a board member and in a number of executive capacities. At one time or another he has devoted time to the Saint John Board of Trade, Family Services of Saint John, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Romero House, the Saint John Business Anti-Poverty Initiative, and the Lancaster Minor Basketball Association to name a few. Peter has recently completed his term as Director and Chair of the Saint John Port Authority. He has been involved for over 25 years with the United Way as a canvasser, Board Member and Executive Member, both locally and nationally, and is a Life Member of the Board of Governors. Currently he serves as a Director of the Saint John Development Corporation.
Peter and his wife, Martha, are the parents of five children.
