Practice Areas

Experienced in commercial liability, automobile, property, professional liability, hospital liability, and surety and fidelity coverage, Deirdre's practice consists of advising insurers, particularly specialized risk insurers and insureds, on insurance coverage and duty to defend issues in all areas of insurance. She brings to her clients the advantages of computerized litigation support, most notably with regard to the use of legal software to manage and prepare cases for trial.

Professional Experience

Born in Saint John, Deirdre received her B.A. in 1985 and her LL.B. in 1987 from the University of New Brunswick. Admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1988 and awarded the distinction of Queen's Counsel in 2005 Deirdre has been with the firm since 1989 and has been affiliated with a number of legal organizations. These include the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of New Brunswick, and the Saint John Law Society. Currently, Deirdre serves as editor-in-chief of the Editorial Board Federated Press of the Journal of Insurance Law and is a committee member for both the Assessment and Compensation Fund Committees of the Law Society of New Brunswick. Deirdre is currently the Vice President of the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Bar Association (C.B.A.) and will in September 2005 be serving on the National Board of Directors for the C.B.A.. An accomplished legal writer, she has been published in a number of law journals.

Outside the Office

Deirdre's contributions range from serving as the former chair of the Planning Advisory Committee for the Town of Quispamsis to studying issues related to the management of environmental site assessments.

A native of Saint John, Deirdre, along with husband and son, makes her home in Rothesay.
